The Riverside Saginaw Film Festival and the Public Libraries of Saginaw present a one-time screening of The Public at the Court Street Theater.
This film, written and directed by and starring Emilio Estevez, portrays an act of civil disobedience that turns into a standoff with police when homeless people in Cincinnati take over the public library to seek shelter from the bitter cold.
This 2018 film is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour and 59 minutes.
Following the film, you are invited to a panel discussion about homelessness in the Saginaw community featuring representatives from the Hoyt Library and the Saginaw County Consortium of Homeless Assistance Providers.
