An intimate look at the world’s obsession with Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick,” which many consider the great American novel. Dozens of historians, artists, philosophers and fanatics explore the novel’s artistic and cultural legacy and impact. 

Through filmmaker David Shaerf, an assistant professor at Oakland University, these enthusiasts tell how the novel has not only affected their lives but created a community brought together through the love of a book.
