Land of Mine (2015)

“Land of Mine” (Denmark-Germany, 2015, historical drama, 101 minutes, R)

The film is inspired by real events and tells the story of World War II. German prisoners of war sent to clear 45,000 coastal land mines in postwar Denmark.  It is estimated that 2,000 German soldiers, including numerous teenagers, were forced to remove mines, with nearly half of them either getting killed or losing their limbs to explosions.

“Land of Mine” was nominated for best foreign film at the 2017 Academy Awards and won 26 awards at film festivals worldwide.
